Malam Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai (born February 16, 1960 in Kaduna, Nigeria) is a Nigerian politician. He was the former director-general of the Bureau of Public Enterprises, the head of the privatization agency in Nigeria. He was from 16 July 2003 to 29 May 2007 Minister of the Federal Capital Region of Abuja. He is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and has been elected Executive Governor of Kaduna state in the 2015 parliamentary elections in Nigeria.
El-Rufai was born on February 16, 1960 in Daudawa, Faskari Local Government Area, Katsina State. His father died when he was 8 years old. He was sponsored during his schooling by an uncle in Kaduna and grew up as a result in the northern state. He attended secondary school at Barewa College, where he graduated as a top-tier and in 1976, the “academic achievement of the Barewa Old Boys’ Association” won. Incidentally, former President Umaru Yar’Adua at Barewa College Zaria was the house captain of the Mallam Smith House, which was a teenager’s Nasir dorm. He went to the Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria and earned a bachelor’s degree in volume with honors.
He also attended post-graduate programs at Harvard Business School and Georgetown University. Since leaving the Civil Service, Nasir has a LL.B degree from the University of London, graduating in August 2008 with a Second Class Honors, Upper Division, and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from John F He was also awarded the Kennedy School Certificate in Public Policy and Management after spending 11 months as an Edward A. Mason Fellow in Public Policy and Management from July 2008 to June 2009.
Governor El-Rufai is a practicing Muslim and has three beautiful wives, Ummi, Hadiza and Asia. He is blessed with five beautiful children.
